Program Itinerary
Day 0: Arrival
This day is optional but highly recommended for your comfort.
We will meet you at the airport, at Mineralnye Vody railway station, or at Pyatigorsk railway station, and transfer you to our office in Pyatigorsk.
In a relaxed setting, we will sign all necessary documents and check your gear and clothing for the ascent. If anything is missing, you can rent it on the spot — we have everything you need.
Pyatigorsk is a resort town. You can stay overnight at any of the many hostels or hotels (prices start from 800 RUB).

Transfer to Elbrus village and the first trekking section.
If you chose not to arrive earlier, please be at the office by 10:00 AM.
Briefing at 10:30 AM, where your guide will briefly introduce themselves, give an overview of the tour, explain safety rules and mountain etiquette, and answer your questions.
After that, we depart for the start of the route — Elbrus village, where the trekking section begins. The trek takes about 4 hours. Overnight at approximately 2,400 m.

Day 2: Traverse to 3,050 m
We continue through the Irik‑Chat Gorge. At 3,050 m, you'll spend the night by a mountain river. We'll stay here for the next 2 nights.
Day 3: Acclimatization Ascent — Irik‑Chat Pass (3,667 m)
We do an acclimatization ascent and also cache some gear for the next camp. We climb to Irik‑Chat Pass (3,667 m).
From the pass, a fantastic view opens up: on the right — the pyramid of Kalitsky Peak surrounded by the frozen Dzhikaugenkez Lake; on the left — endless ice fields; and straight ahead — the majestic Elbrus with its giant crater.
Through the "Red Hill," we reach the ice field of Elbrus. We have a snack and return to our camp.

Ascent to Irik‑Chat Pass (3,667 m). Set up camp on prepared sites and have lunch.

Day 5: Transfer to the Assault Camp (4,100 m)
The final approach day to the assault camp. We wake up early, put on crampons and harnesses, form rope teams, and cross the glacier.
After 1–1.5 hours, we reach the foot of the Achkeryakol lava flow and ascend it to the assault camp (4,100 m). Rest.

Day 6: Acclimatization Ascent
Time for final acclimatization. We climb to 5,000 m. This session acclimatizes your body and prepares you for the summit ascent.
Those who cannot reach the final acclimatization point will not be permitted to attempt the summit.

Day 7: Rest Day
We'll spend this day at the assault camp. Rest before the summit push is the key to a successful ascent. Gear preparation. Early lights‑out around 6:00 PM.
Day 8: Summit Day
The departure time for the summit push is chosen based on the forecast and weather conditions.
We go light — only a thermos and snacks. Crampons and warm clothing are worn. We greet the sunrise over all the mountains of the Main Caucasus Range.

Day 9: Descent to the First Camp (2,400 m)
Descent to the first camp by the river at 2,300 m. This usually takes the entire daylight hours.
In the evening, you can sit by the campfire in the pine forest, admire the boundless starry sky, and recall the brightest moments of the ascent.

The route passes through Priyut 11, Pastukhov Rocks, and the saddle of Elbrus (5,200 m). Final point: West Summit (5,642 m) or East Summit (5,621 m). With good fitness, it's possible to summit both in one climb ("the little cross").

Elbrus and Kazbek are two iconic Caucasus peaks popular with climbers. While both require preparation, there are significant differences between them.

1. Elevation and acclimatization
- Elbrus is the highest mountain in Russia and Europe: West Summit — 5,642 m, East Summit — 5,621 m. The greater height requires a longer acclimatization period — typically 7–10 days. Risk of altitude sickness is higher.
- Kazbek is lower: its height is 5,033 m. Acclimatization is easier and faster, but still necessary — at least 5–6 days.
- Elbrus. The classic south route is considered relatively straightforward, graded 1B (Russian classification). The main challenges are altitude and weather, not technical difficulty. There's a cable car and mountain huts (from 3,800 m to 4,050 m), which makes the ascent easier.
- Kazbek. The climb is technically more demanding, graded 2B. The route includes rocky sections, steeper slopes, and requires basic rope and ice axe skills.
- Elbrus. Well-developed infrastructure: cable cars, numerous mountain huts, and rescuers are close to the route. This makes it more accessible for beginners.
- Kazbek. Less developed infrastructure. Routes are more autonomous and require greater self-reliance.
- Elbrus. Weather is unstable, with frequent winds and snowstorms. Optimal season: May to October, peak — July–August.
- Kazbek. Similar climate, but its location closer to the Black Sea means more frequent precipitation. Best period: June to September.
- Elbrus. One of the most popular routes in Russia. Thousands of climbers summit every year.
